Wood species / trade name: Australian Lacewood / Northern Silky Oak, Australian Lacewood, Silky Oak, Bull Oak
Botanical name: Cardwellia sublimis
Australian Lacewood
Character / Color
The heartwood is a light to medium reddish brown wood with grey to light brown rays. Like other woods which show the strongest pattern in quarter cuts (such as maple), Silky Oak has the most pronounced pattern. This is due to the large medullary rays of the wood.
