The occurrence of the Bosse extends to the Ivory Coast and West Africa and is very similar to mahogany wood in appearance and properties. The colour varies from pale pink to salmon and turns reddish brown when darkened. The special growth (pommellation) has a highly luxurious effect and creates great pictures. The veneer is used for furniture making, instrument making and high-quality interior fittings (shipbuilding).
