Among the species of Tsuga found in North America, Hemlock wood is a moderately heavy softwood and has similar properties to spruce, but is completely resin-free. The heartwood is yellow-brown to dark yellowish-brown, with a slightly reddish colouring. Due to its attractive appearance and its properties Hemlock wood can be used well in interior construction. It is also occasionally used for furniture construction, but is also used for cladding.
