Ipe - Real wood veneer from Schorn & Groh

Ipe grows in all states of northern South America, especially in the lowlands of the Amazon basin. Trees are from 20 to 40m high, its trunk can reach a diameter of 80cm. The trunk is up to 20m knotless and well formed. The wood has a light brown to light green colour. It turns to a darker brown with time. The sapwood clearly contrasts with the corewood with a much lighter wood colour. The structure is mainly fine and shows a high density.
