Red-brown, mostly plain wood, which can vary in colouring and density. The sapwood is yellowish grey to pink grey and 4 to 6 cm wide. The fresh heartwood is pale pink to light reddish brown. The pores are coarse and scattered. The velvety reddish-brown ground colour with a slight shimmer of gold intensifies the expressiveness and beauty of this wood species.
