The structure of this African wood is very coarse. The pores are medium-sized and scattered. It is very soft and elastic. The sapwood colour is light grey and 3 to 5 cm wide. The heartwood is predominantly salmon-coloured to pink-grey and matt-glossy (dry) and clearly yellowing in the light. The grain is generally straight, occasionally slightly wavy.
