Wood species / trade name: Walnut Queensland / Orientalwood, Australian Walnut
Botanical name: Endiandra palmerstonii
Walnut Queensland
Character / Color
The Australian walnut grows in northern Queensland and is not a genuine walnut tree. The appearance is similar to the European walnut, but the drawing is more striated. The sapwood is usually pink and quite thin. The color of the core wood varies from gray to medium brown, often up to dark brown. The stripes usually run in a straight line and create a streaky texture.
