Namen:

  • Amerikanisch / Englisch: Afrormosia

Botanische Bezeichnung:

Pericopsis elata

Charakter / Farbe:

Afrormosia is a wood with a fine porous surface, which can be very decorative due to its colour and gloss. The wood is characterised by a strong interlocked twist. The sapwood area is only 2 to 3 cm wide and varies from white to light grey, while the heartwood is sharply contrasted and appears in yellowish brown to light olive shades. Sometimes darker late wood zones can cause a weak colour streak. Afrormosia is darkening and should be treated accordingly. The pores are fine to medium in size, scattered and numerous. Wood rays are very small and regularly arranged. Afrormosia is often used as decorative front veneer as well as solid wood in interior and exterior construction.
